"Home studio of the month Keyboards/Home Studio brings together the home studios of the world and resounds even as far as... Japan! He has called his studio Pretty Pop and to tell the truth, the name describes his music pretty well. His group, Frau, brings him together with the young Asami, the beautiful voice which embodies here all the "pretty magic" existing there in the heart of Japan. Communication works wonders and it was through a French friend that Ken one day was able to put his nose into Keyboards/Home Studios, which he has been receiving regularly ever since, although he told us that the Japanese musical press isn't developping badly either (noted with thanks). He sent us a CD with titles that sound certainly different, and that is even better as it shows us how the technic is finally able to bring us all together in the same room: no matter how limited the latter down there may be, the reverbs and effects do the work. The studios have penetrated the habits and appartments in Japan obviously in the same way as we can observe the phenomenon here in France. If one asks Ken about his taping habits, he shows a simplicity that he also underlines in his music. His main system is Logic Audio sur Mac and his main MIDI instrument is the S-5000. After taping the rhythm with the S-5000 only, he tapes the voice and leaves the guitars until the very end. And then it depends on the mixing. The simplicity has its effect - Ken makes his music appear like Synth Pop. It is signed like with a seal. The charme and uniqueness are there, it seems as if the beautiful voice was made to dance on the compositions, at once fresh and rhythmic, happy occurance of Japanese rock music." - English translated by Era
